ICT Coordinator
Job Description:
The Wits School of Arts seeks to appoint a School ICT Coordinator to enable its dynamic and creative work across nine academic departments as well as the Wits Theatre(s).
The successful candidate will be responsible for the effective and efficient management of technical, audio- visual, library and archive resources of the Resource Cent
re within the Wits School of Arts.Employer: WITS University

Responsibilities:
– Provide technical (LAN and WI-FI) support maintenance within the School of Art and support seminar rooms: Apollonia Lecturer Theatre, Drama Seminar Room, Joint Center and other ad hoc spaces for teaching and learning purposes.
– Evaluate, develop, provide, and maintain ICT services in support of the teaching and learning needs of the Wits school of arts, students, and staff including printers, scanners and anti-virus software – within the School of Arts.
– Strategize and propose solutions and engage on future technological needs and discussions that the school might need to adopt. This will require managing and liaising with various entities within the University.
– Interact with ICT helpdesk and different teams for support e.g., user password, activation of new computers on the WITS domain and maintenance of the School of Arts network.
– Liaise with suppliers for old and new computer equipment and cabling contractors for network requirements.
– Installation, configuration, upgrade, diagnosis and repair of servers, desktop, notebook and USB/network printers and support for central printing multifunctional photocopy machines.
– Software and hardware support for Microsoft, Linux and Apple Mac devices.
– Hardware installation, configuration, maintenance and monitoring of various file servers, clusters and workstations residing within the School of Arts including software installations.
– Any other tasks or activities which fall within the general functioning of the School of Arts as determined by the Head of School / SAM / ICT leader.
MINIMUM /ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:
– Diploma / Degree IT or IT Certificates (A+ / N+ / MCSE /MCITP)
– OEM Certification Level 5 and above
– Experience with both PC’s and Mac’s a plus as well as a wide variety of software applications.
– Knowledge of digital media production, delivery, theories, technologies, principles, concepts and methodologies.
– Ability to effectively implement and apply technology to teaching and learning.
– Manage, plan and liaise with both the school as a whole and departments’ to strategically enhance and maintain their ICT systems.
– Very strong interpersonal communication skills.
– Ability to communicate technical information to non-technical personnel.
– Must also demonstrate experience working in a team-oriented environment.
– Familiarity with narrative and illustrative conventions and techniques in temporal media.
